In the book"Charlotte's Web" it is pretty obvious that Charlotte is the mentor. Mentor's are known to teach characters new things, bring there self esteem up, have their backs and etc. Charlotte firs all these characteristics. Wilbur is always curious and has many questions to ask and Charlotte is always there to answer them. She always makes him feel good about himself whenever he's feeling down.
A mentor is always the wisest ones. Their the ones the come out saying these weird phrases an you have to guess what it means. Charlotte sometimes says these things that I think Wilbur doesn't catch.
At the end he character most of the time ends up following in the footsteps o their mentors. And I'm sure Wilbur will put to use everything he has learned from Charlotte and eventually he'll teach it to someone else.

pg.61- "what does sedetary mean?"
pg.63-"were you serious when you promised you would keep them from killing me?"
pg.64-"may i go out to my trough and see if I left any of my supper?..."
pg.67-"what does gullible mean?"
I've been noticing that ever sice Charlotte showed up Wilbur's been super curious. I mean he's always been curious with the other other animals but there's just something different about him and Charlotte.
In the beginning of the book Fern took carfe of Wilbur like she was his mother. She fed him from a bottle and took care of him. She even put him in a stroller with her doll!
Some people may seem freindship between but I see something different. I see motherhood. And right now this motherhood is being passed on to Charlotte. Now she's the one acting like Wilbur's mom. Sometimes Charolotte would correct Wilbur in what he's doing, she makes him feel better when he's sad, and she teaches him lots of things.
It's sort of like a mother teaching her son about life because she know's that one day she's not going to be there and he has to learn how to take care of himself.
In the end we all know that Charlotte dies. And I think that Charlotte accomplished that goal of teaching Wilbur.
This sort of reminds me of me in a way. Mostly everybody in my neighborhood watched me grow up. They seen me when i was a little baby,to toddler, to I guess a teenager. And since they have watched me grow up they have a special admiration for me. And now Wilbur's all grown up and every body cares for him. They watched him grow and become a big, smart, nice, pig.

Chapter 8: when fern starts telling her mom about what happens in the barn?
I would like to know if Fern has friends to talk to? If she does then why would she go to her mother and tell her about what happened in the barn. This book seems to be taken place in the past. So I don't know what traditions they had and stuff. But I do know that right now ( I guess it's sort of the future) kids don't really conversate with their parents about what they did, or who they go out with, or who fought who. There is usually a friend they have to talk too.
Now I have to take into consideration that Fern lives on a farm in like the middle of nowhere. But still couldn't she just call a friend up nd say " hey listen, today on the farm this and this happened." Or if she doesn't have a friend she can always talk to Avery about things.
If you go to your parents with some crazy story about animals talking in a farm their obviously not goingto believe you. So you would have a better chance telling someone around your age that story.
